ANN ARBOR, MICH. - TransWeb,

will be webcasting from the XII World Transplant Games at Budapest
September 5 to September 12, 1999.
Anyone using the Internet will be able to log on to TransWeb (www.transweb.org)
to instantly begin a virtual visit to this international event in
the heart of Eastern Europe. Daily coverage of the Games will include
highlights of the athletic competition, profiles, audio interviews,
digital photos, stories, and coverage of the opening and closing
ceremonies. TransWeb's webcast is sponsored by Abbott Laboratories,
Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, Novartis, and Hungarian Transplant Federation.
The XII World Transplant Games, organized by the Hungarian Transplant
Federation (Magyar Transzplantáltak Kulturális és Sportegyesületének,
on the web at http://www.mtse.hu)
demonstrate the success of transplantation through the performances
of transplant recipient athletes. Forty-six (46) teams from around
the globe will take part in a variety of sports during seven days
of intense athletic competition. The Games showcase the accomplishments
of brave individuals who have been given a second chance at life
following a life-saving organ transplant, and promote the need for
organ and tissue donation. Organs are received from either living-related
or cadaveric donors.
TransWeb is a nonprofit educational web site housed at the University
of Michigan Medical Center, designed to educate the public about
donation and transplantation and promote organ and tissue donation.
