The organization and its mission:

LifeCenter Northwest Donor Network is a non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) based in Bellevue, Washington. LCNW was chartered on January 1, 1997. LCNW is responsible for facilitating the process of organ donation in more than 190 hospitals and communities throughout Washington, Montana, Alaska, and Northern Idaho. LifeCenter’s service area covers 1/5 the geographic landmass of the United States.

Mission Statement:

To improve, with compassion, the quality of life for the greatest number of people by promoting organ and tissue donation and the benefits of transplantation.

Unique or creative organ donation promotion strategies:

LifeCenter Northwest fulfills its mission by developing and implementing community-focused programs to educate individuals about the importance of organ and tissue donation. These programs include:

*Middle School & High School Education

*Department of Licensing Program

* Donor Sabbath -working with church communities

*Minority Programs

*Media Outreach- Jamie Moyer PSA

*Donation Decision Month

*And special events, such as Let’s Walk & Talk - a 5K walk hosted in multiple areas across the region, which brings families together to talk about donation.

In addition to community programs, LifeCenter’s volunteer program, Project Life, provides an opportunity for donor family members; transplant recipients and community members to work together to help LifeCenter raise awareness about organ donation. Volunteer opportunities include public speaking, staffing information booths and administrating office projects.

Other Organ Donation Events:

Family Service Department coordinates the annual donor recognition ceremony and the donor memorial quilt.
