Rules of Entry

In order to avoid confusion, here is a brief explanation of the rules.
1. Every competitor must be the recipient of a life supporting organ transplantof at least oneyear duration (including allograft bone marrow).

If the patient has been transplanted more than six months and less than a year, with stable graft function, is in training and receives permission of his attending doctor, entry may be allowed by the World Transplant Games Federation Medical Committee.

2. Organ function must be stable and recipients free from significant complications of chronic organ failure or immunosuppression.

The minimum accepted values are as follows:

Hb less than 10 g/dl

Creatinine greater than 300 umo/L

Blood pressure greater than 150/90

Liver function tests greater than 10% increase in enzymes or bilirubin Cardioangiography- no significant coronary artery narrowing

A medical certificate confi rmi ng the a bove is to be su bm itted correctly a nd fully completed and signed by a senior transplant doctor, dated and submitted in the month prior to the Games.

3. All sports are strictly run under international rules governing that sport unless as modified by WTGF regulations.

4. Each competitor may only enter 5 events, excluding relays. Each competitorwill be issued with a punch cardto be marked atthe beginning of each event.

5. For events with more than one competitor, eg. doubles and relays, each team must consist of members from one nation only.

6. Withdrawing from an event may occur at any time.

7. If there are 8 or less competitors in any event, a final only will be held. If there are more than 5 heats in any event, semi-finals will be held. Qualifications to semi-finals or finals will be on the best times or best distances.

8. Cyclists must supply their own safety helmets.21.

MEDALS AND AWARDS


Gold, silver andbronze medals will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed in each event. In the raquet events, both losing semi-finalists will be awarded a bronze medal.

There should be a commemorative medal struck and given to all competitors and officials (local and team).
In an event with 3 competitors, one medal will be awarded. If 4 competitors, 2 medals and for 5 or more competitors, all 3 medals awarded. At medal ceremonies, times and distances should be announced.

For unofficial children's events, medals may be awarded for all places.

A competitor at the age of 16 years, competing successfully in his or her country's championships as an adult, may be selected to represent that country as an adult.

In a competition where there are 1 or 2 competitors in an age group -for example, 2 seniors - they will be required to compete in the age group below (e.g. adult).
