The next World Transplant Games will be held in Sydney from 29th September to 5th October 1997. Hotel accommodation has been booked and confirmed for 2,000 people. The standard of accommodation is excellent and is in the 4-star range. The sporting venues have also been selected and booked. We have secured the Sydney 2000 Olympic site for the track and field and swimming events. All other sporting facilities are also world class.
 

The total cost for the Games will be as follows: Competitors $990 Australian ($780US) Supporters $940 Australian ($740US) The price includes:

 

• 9 nights twin share accommodation including breakfast from 27th September to 5th October 1997 inclusive.
• Lunch from 29th September to 5th October 1997 inclusive (7 days).
• Dinner from 29th September to 5th October 1997 inclusive.
• All other direct costs associated with the Games including the Opening Ceremony social function, Gala Event dinner, transportation and entry fees.

The Sydney Organising Committee has gone to great lengths to make sure that the Games are affordable for everyone. Considering the standard of accommodation and the world class sporting facilities, we feel that the Games are very well priced. Obviously if people need to make special arrangements eg. single, family or superior accommodation requirements, special pricing for the Games excluding accommodation etc., we are happy to oblige. Please also note that if special accommodation is required (outside of the Games designated hotels) we cannot guarantee transportation to the Games events.

Application forms were forwarded in January 1997. The World Transplant Games Federation have suggested the following payment plan which is to be made in Australian Dollars.

• 10% deposit for all competitors and supporters due 1st May 1997.
• Balance of monies due 1st August 1997.

Please note that all competitors must arrive in Sydney on or before Saturday 27th September 1997, as player and supporter registration for the Games closes at 5 pm on Saturday 27th September 1997. If you need to make arrangements for accommodation for either the 25th or 26th September 1997 please let us know. There will be an additional cost, approximately $50 Australian ($39US) per person per night twin share.

Dr. Maurice Slapak, President of the World Transplant Games Federation, stated in August during his visit to Australia, "Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the World. The weather is magnificent and the preparation for the Games is impressive - all accommodation and sporting venues are first rate." His comments are a wonderful endorsement. The Sydney Organising Committee urges you to publicise the Sydney Games as much as possible in your country. We would like at least 2,000 people to attend.

Major highlights for our Games are:

• Greg Norman is our patron.
• A parade has been organised where the teams will march through the centre of Sydney finishing at the world famous Sydney Opera House for the Opening Ceremony.
• The Swimming event will be held at the same pool as that being used for the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000.
• The Track and Field will also be held at the 2000 Olympic site.
