For the first time ever, the U.S. Transplant Games will host expanded
programs
for donor families attending the event. As team
escorts, the families will participate in Opening Ceremonies. Educational and
support workshops led by bereavement and transplant
professionals will be held to address many issues that donor families have
in
common. There will be social events and time for sharing
and making new friends.
The Athletes' Village is the site for Games information, results postings,
team
get-togethers, Salt Lake City
information, and exhibits for Games sponsors and for other Games exhibitors.
Activities of the Games will also be
staged in the Village area.
"Making the Most of Your Life: Issues for Today's Transplant Recipients " is
the
theme of the 1996 Family Focus
Symposium. Modeled and named after the first-ever national town meeting
for
recipients held this past November,
this session will feature expert panelists who will address a number of
topics
that are relevant to living with a
transplant. Join your fellow recipients for this educational and motivating
experience.
The Social Lounge will be open on Friday and Saturday evening and will
feature
food, music, Karaoke, and cash bar from
8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Shuttle transportation will run from the Social Lounge to
Games
hotels until 11:30 p.m. All
participants are invited to stop by to relax, mingle and join in the fun!
The Closing Ceremonies and Celebration will be held downtown at the Delta
Center,
the home of the Utah Jazz.
Following food and drink on the concourse level, participants will enter the
arena for the Closing Ceremonies. The
outstanding male and female athlete awards and the '96 Games highlights
video
will be presented. After the
Ceremonies, everyone is invited to the arena floor for music and dancing.
Admission to the Closing Ceremonies is $25
for adults, $10 for children under 15. Children under 2 are free. Tickets are
required for entry. Tickets can be
purchased at any Games Information Booth while supplies last; it is
suggested
that they be purchased no later than
time of athlete registration. Join us for food, music, dancing and a great
time!
