Team Michigan Chair

Wayne Postma PhotoFellow receipients,

I am a kidney transplant recipient. My wife Barbara and I decided to attend the 1990 U.S. Transplant Games as spectators. This was the first time this event was organized by the National Kidney Foundation, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding and uplifting experiences we had ever been a part of. We thoroughly enjoyed the competition, camaraderie and spirit of the transplant athletes and the many friendships we made. Emotions were high and tears were shed as we watched the athletes compete and truly celebrate their second chance at life.

After the 1990 Games, we made a decision to remain strong supporters of the U.S. Transplant Games in future years. We attended the 1992 Games at UCLA and the 1994 Games at Emory University in Atlanta, where I was also a participating athlete. The friendships forged in 1990 were rekindled and many new friendships were made. My wife and I combine the Games with our vacation, making it a truly memorable experience.

I would personally like to invite you and your family to any and all of the U.S. Transplant Games wherever they may be held. I know you will have the same great experience we've had.

The National Kidney Foundation takes great pride in organizing the Transplant Games. The Games demonstrate not only the critical need for organ donation, but also the incredible success of transplantation.
