XI World Transplant Games
Letter from Bob Carr
Premier of New South Wales

TO: ALL PARTICIPANTS OF THE WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES

It is with great pleasure that I encourage you to come to Sydney, Australia's leading city, for the XIth World Transplant Games in 1997.

As you probably know, Sydney, the capital of the State of New South Wales, has received the stamp of approval from the International Olympic Committee and has been trusted with the organisation and staging of the world's greatest event - the Olympic Games in 2000. The International Paralympic Committee also awarded Sydney the Paralympics in 2000, and as a result all venues will be accessible to everyone.

Sydney's reputation and status in the international sporting scene is unquestionable. The skill and expertise of our sports organisations, the capabilities of the Management Committee, and the outstanding facilities available to the World Transplant Games are first-class.

September is a superb time to visit Sydney and New South Wales, and indeed all of Australia. Sydney boasts a sunny temperate climate, and in September daytime temperatures are between 16-20 degrees Celsius and average daily humidity at 1500 hours is 51%, (the same that the 2000 Olympians will experience). This is ideal for sport, sight-seeing and entertainment, stunning cruises on our magnificent harbour, trips to the beach, and that famous Sydney outdoor lifestyle.

I hope that Sydney's appeal and attraction on the world stage will entice you to visit us. Hotels, attractions, restaurants, bars, entertainment, and shopping are second to none, and firmly establish Sydney as one of the truly sophisticated cities of the world. Beyond Sydney, the state of New South Wales offers many wonderful holiday experiences from beaches, to mountains, farms and country, and our unique Outback.

You can be assured that the people of Sydney and New South Wales will extend to you and your family and friends, a very friendly welcome when you come to participate in the 1997 World Transplant Games.

Yours sincerely,

Premier
