Patches of Love: Voices from the Quilt

The donor quilt is visually stunning. From a distance you see all those patches respresenting lives lost and lives replenished. Up close you see young faces, hearts, sports, pets, and above all, smiles. Some words stand out among the images: many names and dates, and "forever," "love," "life," and "miss." These words make up the voices from the quilt. Below is a small sampling of those voices.
Forever
in our hearts.
A loving heart
A gentle touch
He gave us all
So much.
Honey,
I will love you forever.
One life taken,
Four lives restored
You have everything beautiful in its time, for everything you do remains forever.
Miracles happen to those who believe.
Rest
peacefully.
Always giving in life
And now in death
Giving life to others:
You are a star.
I'll miss you until
We meet in Heaven.
In one of the stars I shall be living
In one of them I shall be laughing
When you look at the sky at night
And when your sorrow is comforted

You will be content that you have always known me
You will always be my friend
You will always want to laugh with me

You have touched our hearts and changed our lives forever.
We miss you every day.

You will always
be in my heart.
Four lives were saved by his choice.
Love knows no season.
Her belief:
" Every day is a new day!"
Honky Tonk Gang
You are building
the bridge of life and hope to people.
Your dream came true. We love and miss you.

2 holes in One
Two people
see clearly, two children can run
and now the world shall hear your song.
If you want it you can have it
You just have to believe in yourself.

The true measure
of our journey through life
does not lie in how many souvenirs
we can purchase along the way
but in how many lives
we stop to touch.

He enjoyed life
to the fullest.

Greater love hath no man than this,
That a man lay down his life for his friends.

Died while on the waiting list for a heart-lung transplant -
He brought us joy.
He was a good and faithful servant.
He multiplied his talents.
A Mother holds her Children's hand for a while,
their hearts forever.
  She is helping
others live.
Stitched forever in our hearts.
You gotta have wings.   ...Who taught us
how to eat an elephant: "One bite at a time."
Those who walk with God will always
find their way.
The gift continues.
To love and be loved
Is to feel the sun from both sides.
Donate life.   No act of kindness,
no matter how small,
is ever wasted.
  Live well
Laugh often
Love much
  Generous in Life
Generous in Death
"Why anybody'd be crazy not to . . . .
You could save somebody's life. "

Life isn't measured by the number of days you have lived,
but by the number of people you have touched.
And in that sense you have lived a lifetime.
