TransWeb, the award-winning web site about organ donation and transplantation, will be webcasting live from the US Transplant Games in Columbus, Ohio, August 4-8, 1998. Daily coverage of the Games, which are sponsored by Novartis and presented by the National Kidney Foundation, including highlights of the athletic competition, athlete and team profiles, audio interviews, digital photos, stories, and coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies, can be found at www.transweb.org. TransWeb's coverage can be seen worldwide, free, 24 hours a day, by anyone with Internet access.

The US Transplant Games demonstrate the success of transplantation through the performances of over one thousand transplant recipient athletes. There are 50 teams from across the country that take part in a variety of sports during three days of intense athletic competition. The Games showcase the accomplishment of brave individuals who have been given a second chance at life following a life-saving organ transplant. Organs are received from either living-related or cadaveric donors. These donors will be remembered during special events during the week.

TransWeb's coverage of the Games is made possible by the sponsorship of the National Kidney Foundation, Canon, Dell Computer Corporation, Nextel Communications, National Car Rental, Underground Printing, Signs in 1 Day, Pioneer Press, and the help of many volunteers. TransWeb is a nonprofit educational web site housed at the University of Michigan Medical Center. The website is aimed at educating the public about donation and transplantation and promoting organ and tissue donation. TransWeb is available free, 24 hours a day, and is visited over 500,000 times per month. For more information, contact TransWeb at transweb@umich.edu. For more information about the US Transplant Games contact the National Kidney Foundation at (800) 622-9010 or visit the NKF Transplant Games web page.
