THE 1996 U.S. TRANSPLANT GAMES
Athlete Profile

Name: Bonnie Lundy

Age: 25

Transplant: Heart, 1992

Team: Team Texas

Hometown: San Antonio

Event(s): Track and Field (5K fun run/walk, Softball throw)

I always wanted to do aerobics and go to the gym and be normal -- do what everyone else is doing. Now I have that chance! I've been going to the gym for about a year and a half now.

I got sick when I was 17, so I never looked ahead much. Now I can look ahead, I can see my future. I'm going to nursing school right now, and hope to finish in about two years. I'm interested in cardiology.

I'm going to the Games because I want to see everyone who's in the same position I am, to talk to people who've had the same experiences. I want to hear about other people's experiences.

My message to the Internet world:

I had never heard about or thought about transplantation until I needed one, and now my whole family knows a lot about transplants and donation and everything. I think you should do what you can to help other people.
