Lunchtime Activities, at Department of Health and Human Services Building
Story by Eleanor Jones, photography by Bob Garypie, Doug Armstrong, and Mike Lougee, audio by Doug Armstrong

The Department of Health and Human Services hosted a fun indoor picnic lunch for the delegates and their families. An army of volunteers from the Red Cross distributed sack lunches. Soft mats were placed on the floor, making it possible for everyone to take their sack lunch and camp on the floor. Clowns, characters, and strolling musicians entertained the children, with music, jokes, and gags.

Secretary Donna Shalala spoke briefly about organ donation, saying that each of the delegates is a miracle - and that with more donation, we can help many more miracles happen. Afterwards, many of the delegates had the opportunity to meet the Secretary.
