Eleanor G. Jones

What does one do after obtaining a bachelor's in English at the University of Michigan?

Ms. Jones has managed a group home for developmentally disabled adults, earned a master's in Education, taught children to read, and helped foreign-born graduate students edit their theses and learn American English.

A long-time Ann Arbor resident, Ms. Jones spent occasional weekends over the past five years proofreading The Ann Arbor Observer, a monthly magazine.

Since beginning at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 1990, she has developed a transplant newsletter (a paper publication) and helped create several other educational publications for Michigan Transplant.

She joined the TransWeb team at its inception in December of 1994, and began working on TransWeb full time in March of 1995. Her primary responsibilities are:

TransWeb is a very satisfying and exciting project; each day spent working on it yields new challenges and many rewards!

Presented TransWeb as a case study at Strategic Use of the Internet to Accelerate Drug Development in Arlington, VA 10/95, and spoke on developing patient education web sites at Patient Education via the Internet in Miami 2/96. The outline for that presentation is available here. Has also demonstrated TransWeb at meetings of The American Society of Transplant Surgeons and The American Society of Transplant Physicians (Chicago 5/95, Dallas 5/96, and Chicago 5/97 and 5/98), The North American Transplant Coordinators Organization (San Diego, 8/96), The International Transplant Nurses Society (New Orleans, 5/96), The American Association of Tissue Banks (Atlanta, 8/95) and Transplant Recipients International Organization (Nashville, 9/96). Was among those present when VP Al Gore announced the nation-wide organ donation initiative (Washington, DC 12/97), which included The Transplant Journey.

Covering the 1996 U.S. Transplant Games in Utah was an amazing experience, topped only by the 1997 World Transplant Games in Australia! If you're planning to be in Columbus, Ohio August 4 -8 for the 1998 US Transplant Games, please come to visit us in the Drake Union, where we will be demonstrating TransWeb and doing daily coverage (stories, photos, audio interviews, etc.) of the Games.

Free time pursuits include working with her husband on their 1920's home, going to the library, camping, dreaming of Paris, listening to public radio (PHC, classical and early music, and WCBN), and putting the household feline on a diet.

In February 1996, Olivia (niece) was born. See her in July 1996.
